Obituary

Paul Jonathan (Jon) Mitchell passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. He was born April 22, 1964, in Chico, California to David Dennis Mitchell Sr. and Hazel Frances Woods Mitchell.

Jon lived in a multiplicity of places globally due to his father's work as a geophysicist. Some of the most memorable places were Atlanta, New Orleans, England, and Norway, but he and eventually made Dallas, Texas, his home with his partner Jaime Cardenas.

Jon graduated in 1982 from Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas and went on to attend the University of North Texas. He went on to a successful career in the Hospitality industry, which lasted over 32 years. His philosophy of leadership was that it should be embraced with sophistication and excellency. He served in an extensive collection of leadership and executive sales positions with major brands, including Hilton/Omni, and was serving as the VP of National Accounts Sales with Connections Housing upon his passing. He was a brilliant and assertive negotiator, always seeking to achieve extraordinary results that aligned with his client's requirements and desires. He was a true professional and exuded hospitality.

His exuberant and buoyant personality enriched the lives of everyone he encountered. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, sharing himself and evoking that same jocular spirit of love in each person he cherished. He appreciated all diversities; he was inclusive in his love of others. One of his beloved ways of exhibiting this love was to assemble family and loved ones or colleagues and clients around an exquisitely arranged table to spread joyfulness and partake in a decadent culinary experience.

He had a profound love for French bulldogs, and he and Jaime had recently welcomed a new puppy (Lincoln) into their family, after the passing of their beloved Truman.

He is survived by his partner Jaime Cardenas, Jaime's parents, Alonzo and Norma Cardenas, Jon's best friend and second mom, Barbara McDaniel of Dallas, Texas, his half-brother Dennis Charles Mitchell and his son Zackary, both of Maryland. Other survivors include his uncle George Mitchell III; his children Danny Mitchell, Amy Mitchell, Andrea Wallace (husband Mark), and Kathleen Davis, (husband Johnny); six second cousins and other relatives in the Mitchell, Woods and Lusty families.

Jon was preceded in death by his brother David Dennis Mitchell Jr, his parents David Dennis Mitchell. and Hazel Frances Woods Mitchell and his beloved French bulldog, Truman, who was known for his feistiness toward the local postwoman.
